EVESHAM United will be sweating on the fitness of midweek goal hero Leroy Odiero ahead of Saturday's Southern League West trip to early pacesetters Bristol Manor Farm (3pm).

Odiero crashed in a 48th-minute winner to settle an end-to-end clash at Cirencester and help the Robins to back-to-back wins with clean sheets.

Boss Paul Collicutt seems resigned to not having the defender to call upon at the weekend but was still in high spirits after a show-stopping display.

“Leroy was outstanding. He scored a good goal but picked up an injury and will be a doubt for Saturday,” said Collicutt.

“He took a bit of a whack to the back of his leg in the first half which aggravated a previous injury and we had to make a few changes late in the game.”

On Tuesday's 1-0 win, Collicutt added: “I thought we played pretty well to be honest but at 1-0 you’re always hanging on.

“Looking at the 90 minutes I don’t Kev (Sawyer, goalkeeper) had a save to make and their lad produced an outstanding stop from Carl Brown right at the end.

“It doesn’t matter whether you score one, three or six goals, though, there are still only three points available. It was a good performance, a deserved win and it was nice for the lads at the back to get a clean sheet as well.

“On top of that one or two results went our way so it certainly made it a good victory.”

However, Collicutt refused to get carried away by Evesham’s strong form.

“There’s a long way to go and it might be an old cliché but it is true that you have to take every game as it comes,” he said.

“Bristol Manor Farm put six past Bishop’s Cleeve in midweek and are up there for a reason. Going there will be a first for me but I have heard good things about them.

“All I want now is for the two lads up top (Ethan Moore and Lewis Powell) to break their ducks but they worked very well in what was a good all-round performance so I am happy.”
