A POPULAR community tournament will return this summer as part of a bid to raise £20,000 for charity.

The annual Growers United event, now in its fourth year, is set to take place at Evesham United’s Jubilee Stadium on July 11 and 12.

It is hoped to feature 32 teams from local businesses in a nine-a-side competition, played in the same format as the Copa America, but further venues could be used if demand is high.

Entry is free with organisers keen to support workers while also bringing together different nationalities from around the Vale.

They will raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Cancer Research.

Last year, £10,000 was collected and the aim is to double that in 2015 via a black tie dinner, donations at the tournament and a match between Growers United and Liverpool Legends, which is yet to be confirmed.

Any teams interested in the tournament can e-mail Bal Padda at office@vicaragenurseries.co.uk.
