PERSHORE Town started the new Midland League Division One campaign with a heavy 5-0 defeat at Leicester Road but the scoreline was not a fair reflection of the match.

The visitors started brightly and within the first 10 minutes could have scored three times.

Michael Skerrett turned his defender after two minutes and fired just over the bar, while Ellis Blakemore and Adam Laight also went close as Town looked dangerous, playing good, attacking football.

Goals change games though and the hosts scored twice before half-time.

Pershore started positively in the second-half but conceded 10 minutes after the break and Leicester Road took control.

The hosts netted twice in the last minute to complete the scoring.

Pershore entertain Studley at the 2020SolarPV stadium on Tuesday night (7.45pm).
