PERSHORE High School’s year eight boys claimed their district football league title with a convincing 9-1 win over South Littleton’s Blackminster Middle School.
Led by their teacher James Layton-Hill, the team have impressed over four games, scoring 17 goals and conceding just two in the process.
A school spokesman said: “It has been a pleasure taking the boys for the fixtures where not only have they excelled on the pitch in the short but busy campaign they have been a credit off it too.
“When they first make the transition into secondary school it can take time to iron out the teething issues when a squad is finally assembled with students from many different primary or middle schools.”
“This year, however, has been a pleasurable exception as the boys have hit the ground running.
“It just shows what can be achieved when the common interest shared, a love of football, has resulted in Pershore convincingly taking the title.”
