PERSHORE Town drew 1-1 with Stafford Town in their last home match of the Midland League Division One season.

The result leaves Pershore 17th, three points outside of the relegation zone and with the further advantage of a nine-goal difference with one match remaining.

Despite the much-improved form of late Pershore's first-half performance was lacklustre with Stafford the better team.

The visitors hit the post with a free-kick after 15 minutes and took the lead with a close-range header through Ryan Blagbrough from a corner just before half-time.

The second half however was a vast improvement with Pershore virtually camped in the visitors' half.

Josh Moreton, Stafford's keeper, made two good saves within quick succession, saving a Richard Thomas Robinson 30-yard shot and another from a Steve Webb left-footed volley from similar distance.

Jamie Clarke almost equalised when put through by Webb but the striker's effort was again saved by the keeper.

Pershore's pressure finally told in the 84th minute when Webb's lofted cross-shot curled into the top corner to earn a deserved equaliser.

Town's campaign finishes on Saturday away at Heather St Johns.
