PERSHORE Town were undone by a late goal for the second Midland League Division One game in four days.

Following a 4-3 midweek home defeat to Studley Town went down 3-2 at Bolehall Swifts.

Town should have tied the game up at Swifts before half-time as they took the initiative from the start.

Jamie Clarke fired inches past the far post before home keeper Oliver Doyle held a low Jordan Hayward effort.

Both Clarke and Mikey Wright fired tamely into the keeper’s hands but finally on 33 minutes the defence could only half-clear a Daniel Priest corner and Scott Devlin gave Doyle no chance with a fierce volley.

Town continued to dominate and Wright collected a Priest cross but saw his shot deflected agonisingly past the post early in the second half before a Clarke free-kick smacked against the bar.

A second Town goal looked inevitable and finally came on 63 minutes with Hayward sending over a cross deep from the touchline which Wright controlled well and fired home.

But the game suddenly swung in the home side's favour though as they took full advantage of a series of substitutions to gain control.

After 71 minutes a Michael Bloore penalty put them back in the game and five minutes before the finish a long throw-in enabled Kieran Cherrie to slot home the equaliser.

It looked like Town would have to make do with just one point but in fact they lost that as well two minutes from the finish in controversial fashion as Bloore and a defender both went down on the touchline.

Bloore appeared to scoop the ball back into play with his hand before jumping up to slot home from a narrow angle.

Town were left to rue a disappointing week that should have seen them with seven points from their opening three games instead of being in mid-table.

Dane Aldington, Clarke and Wright netted in the defeat to Studley.

In consecutive home games Pershore play Tenbury United in the Smedley Crooke Memorial Cup on Tuesday (7.45pm), Uttoxeter Town in the league on Saturday (3pm) and Cadbury Athletic the following Tuesday (7.45pm).
