LITTLETON won their FA Vase opener for the third year running with a 3-2 triumph at Cadbury Athletic.

The Vale side progressed to the second qualifying round where they will head to West Midlands League side Wellington on Saturday, September 23.

The score slightly flattered Cadbury as their second was an own goal by Aaron Xavier in the 10th minute of injury-time.

Littleton opened strongly and looked particularly dangerous down their right flank where Robbie Ager had the measure of the defender.

It was from one of his crosses that Littleton took the lead on 12 minutes with Stuart Hall converting.

Cadbury had their best spell and equalised on the half-hour with a Stuart Butcher free-kick from the edge of the box.

But Littleton regained the lead on 35 minutes through a fine solo goal by Dan Carter.

The second half saw Littleton soak up pressure as the hosts tried to get back into the game.

On 73 minutes Joe Adams made it 3-1 with a cool finish before Cadbury's late response.

On Saturday Littleton are away again to Heath Hayes (3pm) before hosting Worcester City on Wednesday, September 20, in the Polymac Packaging League Cup second round (7.45pm).
