MANAGER Paul Collicutt wants one last glimpse of Paul Fahy’s signature smile before the Evesham United playmaker makes a new life in Finland.

Fahy emigrates shortly after his Robins swansong in Saturday’s clash of the Southern League West play-off contenders against Winchester City at the Jubilee Stadium (3pm).

“This will be his last game for us,” explained Collicutt. “Paul had a chat with me last week and we have already been approached by two or three clubs in Finland about signing him.

“He was very good last season. Unfortunately, he has suffered one or two injuries this time and has not hit the same heights but he is a good player and a big loss.

“I am very sorry to see him go. The door will always be open if he returns to the UK and all I can do is wish him all the best over there with his relationship, work and football.

“He goes with my blessing, I cannot speak highly enough of the lad. I love him, he is great to have about and I will miss that smile of his.

“He has a bit of lip but puts a smile on people’s faces. He does some silly things off the pitch, sometimes on it as well, but he is a good lad who will be sorely missed.

“He wants a big send off and three points on Saturday.”

It marks the next in a tricky run of fixtures against fellow promotion hopefuls with Evesham two points ahead of Winchester in a congested battle for the top six.

United had sat third before losing 2-1 to Salisbury and then 2-0 at Swindon Supermarine on Saturday, the latter being their fourth defeat in six outings.

“It is probably our biggest game of the season,” admitted Collicutt.

“The players know that and I think the supporters do too. They were disappointed on Saturday because our away form has been half decent so far.

“You reach a level of performance that you come to expect of players and the team collectively. We were short of that at the weekend and need a reaction.”
