Newport test for Rangers

FORMER Barry Town manager Gary Barnett tests himself against Welsh opposition again tomorrow night.

The Moreton Rangers boss, who was also assistant to Jan Molby at Kidderminster Harriers, tackles Newport County in a pre-season friendly at London Road (7.15pm).

The south Wales team shared with Moreton Town in 1989-90 after a dispute with the Welsh FA.

County won the Hellenic League then and last season, while playing in the Blue Square Bet Premier, competed at Wembley in the FA Trophy final.

Barnett said: “We will need to play very well to give them a test but the players have worked hard in training to get a place in the squad for this big game.”

Entry will be £2.50 or £1 for under 16s.

Rangers’ other pre-season games include a visit from Gloucester City on August 8 (7pm).
