Town set to start friendlies

PERSHORE Town are back in action on Saturday as they host Westfields in their opening pre-season friendly (3pm).

The King George V Playing Fields side are gearing up for what they hope will be a much-improved season following last term’s struggle in the Midland Football Combination Premier Division.

Gary Aldington, assistant to manager Neil Hunt last season, has taken over the reins and is beginning to shape a squad.

The Westfields game will be followed on Tuesday with another home warm-up against Bishops Cleeve (7.30pm).

Chairman Damien Rourke said: “We are ready to go. We have had a lot of players come for training, there’s a lot of interest now that Gary has taken over.

“There’s quite a positive feel around the club with everybody working together.”
