BRETFORTON made hard work of defeating third-placed Team Bath Buccaneers 1-0 in West Clubs Women's League Premier Division '2A'.

In a tough, topsy-turvy game, Bret were forced into last-minute defending before they got going.

Hayley Whitehouse linked well with Sarah Hall, leaving the midfield behind them in the safe hands of Lisa Workman.

Bret won several short corners but the game stopped when a Bath player was badly injured in an unfortunate accident and taken to hospital.

After much debate, both teams agreed to play the second-half in full and Bret's winner was a fine team effort.

Smart, snappy passing saw Terri Brown latch on and slot the ball home sweetly at the far post.

Bret stay second with one game to go at Gloucester seconds on Saturday.

Brown was joint player-of-the-match with Daisy Wheeler.
