EVESHAM Swimming Club celebrated a successful summer championship at their presentation evening.

Competitors of all ages swam nine events, setting 407 personal bests and 30 new county championship qualifying times for 2015.

Luke Perry led the way with eight county times followed by Chloe Mabbett (6), Amy Cooper (3), Mollie Cresswell (3), Sophie Pettit (2), Martha Bailey (2), Melissa Humphreys (2), Harry Ward, Kieran Cooper, Heather Castle and Charlie Waites.

Evesham kept their place in Nuneaton League Division Two and now look forward to the autumn opens and their winter league debut.

Meanwhile, 17 Pershore swimmers competed in the Netherlands invitational international meet in Eindhoven, scoring 16 podium finishes and three age-group records.

They scooped seven gold medals, eight silvers and one bronze as well as producing numerous personal bests.

Simon Sweatman crushed two meeting records in the boys’ 11 to 12 year age group for the 50-metre and 100m backstroke.

Pershore head coach Tom Naughton said: “We’ve certainly put Pershore on the international swimming map for all the right reasons.”

Pershore youngsters also secured five age-group titles at the annual Pied Piper Aquathlon in Cheltenham.

First places: David Annis (Tristar boys’ eight years, 54-metre swim and 400m run, 2.14 course record); Cameron Leach (boys’ nine to 10 years, 100m swim and 1,300m run, 9.04); Megan Annis (girls’ 11 to 12 years, 200m swim and 1,900m run, 13.36); Gearey (boys’ 11 to 12 years, 12.30); Callum Sanderson (boys’ 13 to 14 years, 400m swim and 2,500m run, 18.02).

Second places: Leah Saunders (Tristar girls’ eight years, 2.49); Casarena Ferreira (girls’ 13 to 14 years, 19.23), Katie Sharratt (girls’ 15 to 16 years, 400m swim and 3,100m run, 25.50). Third places: Euan Kirby (Tristar boys’ eight years, 2.57).
