PERSHORE won their first trophy for years, battling hard against bigger Midlands clubs to take the Profab Shield gala.

The 11 to 14 year olds notched 18 victories in Wolverhampton and more than 20 new county qualifying times for 2015.

Pershore managed 348 points to finish ahead of Stourbridge (324), Blythe (278), Swadlincote (259), Warley (193), Haden Hill (147) and Bromsgrove (147).

Head coach Tom Naughton said: “We led from the first event and there were some great individual and team performances.

“This has been a long time coming and it’s a just reward for the hard work, commitment and effort from all swimmers.”

Meanwhile, Pershore secured 12 podium finishes at the Worcester county development open meet in Wolverhampton and several new county qualifying times.

RESULTS First places, girls: Jasmine Franks (10 years 100m individual medley, 1.28.53), Lauren Annis (nine years 100m individual medley, 1.37.45), Alexandra Barry (11 years 100m individual medley, 1.26.54).

Seconds, girls: Franks (10 years 50m butterfly); boys: Hamish Cross (11 years 50m breaststroke; 11 years 50m freestyle).

Thirds, girls: Annis (nine years 50m butterfly), Caitlin Yates (10 years 50m breaststroke); boys: Cross (11 years 100m individual medley; 11 years 50m backstroke), Jamie Saunders (11 years 50m butterfly), Cameron Leach (10 years 50m breaststroke), Jamie West (13 years 50m breaststroke).

n Vale swimmers Alice Hall, Sophie Pettit and Mollie Cresswell attended the first City of Gloucester sprint meet.

They amassed six medals, four personal bests and five county qualifying times for 2015.

Pershore’s Hall did well in the 16 and over age group with county times in the 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle along with a string of top-10 finishes.

But there were medals for the Evesham club’s Cresswell and Pettit.
