THE outdoor section of Chipping Norton held their annual prize presentation dinner.

Chairman Val Harris welcomed all the guests, including Oxfordshire Bowls Association President Mike Andrew, who presented the awards, and Club President Tony Backer-Holst.

Harris said: “The club has enjoyed an excellent year in 2014 with no major problems with bad weather and I hope the success will continue into the future.”

A meal was followed by the presentation of the awards as Andrew was introduced by competitions secretary John Bowlt.

Alison Siford and Val Harris won the drawn ladies’ pairs, while Stuart Davis and Bill Jarvie took the men’s equivalent.

The two woods singles went to Carol Martin and the never-won singles to Davis.

Alison and Nigel Siford claimed the married couples honours with the over-60s singles going to Len McDonald. Backer-Holst won the drawn open pairs, McDonald the John Quinn Trophy, Martin the ladies’ singles and Nigel Siford the men’s singles.

Nigel Siford, Roberta Jarvie and Rosemary Brooks bagged the triples. Andrew said: “Thank you for inviting me to present the awards this year and congratulations to all those who took part. I have always enjoyed visiting Chipping Norton, it is such a friendly club and thank you most sincerely for inviting me here.

“This is my last function as president of the OBA and what an excellent evening it has been, congratulations to all concerned, and I look forward to returning to the club some time in the future.”
