THE second round of Cotswold Girls’ League matches saw last season’s runners-up Willersey fighting it out with Ilmington for top spot.

Willersey opened with an emphatic 4-0 win over a St James team playing their first match.

Kyra Bostock dominated by netting four goals in quick succession.

The Chipping Campden team found their feet but gave no trouble to the keeper.

Against Chipping Campden School, St James only let in two with keeper Alice Timms shining against the seniors’ attack.

Eventually, Frankie Wood and Lucy Gould penetrated the defence for a hard-earned win.

Willersey gave CCS a tough game but the seniors’ defence kept Bostock in check.

A clearance found Amy Moore unmarked and her shot from a narrow angle crept in at the near post for the only goal.

CCS beat Temple Guiting 4-0 with some fine team goals.

Anna Whittaker continued a good move with a shot across goal turned home by Martha Robbins.

Gould added another and Whittaker opened her own account.

Abigail Mogford completed the scoring with a long-range shot.

In their final game, CCS played their best match, winning 3-0 against St James.

Wood netted first and then Robbins connected perfectly with Mogford’s pass.

Moore won the ball in the corner and passed for Wood to flick home the final goal.

Willersey defeated Temple Guiting 2-0 with Bostock netting two well-taken shots.

Temple Guiting and St James played a tight game, which was won late on by the former as Jess Ardron fired home.

Ilmington enjoyed a 4-0 win over Temple Guiting in a close contest.

Lauren Davis’ wide shot was deflected in by a defender before she scored three more quick goals.

Against St James, Davis struck with another deflection and added another with Chloe Angus also on target in a 3-0 win.

The final match saw Ilmington win 2-1 against Willersey through Davis (2) with Bostock replying.

Ilmington are now in pole position to qualify for the final.
