FINE conditions greeted Broadway’s ladies for the first round of six in their winter league.

Twenty-two teams competed in the better-ball stableford and Chris Moulder and Pat Righton led with 40 points.

Second, with 36, were Kim Lockyear and Chris Parkinson.

Debbie Donoghue and Judith Noyce (34) took third on count-back from Sheila Lawson and Sheila Aitkenhead.

Meanwhile, 36 men’s teams played their turkey four-ball stableford in wind and torrential rain.

Alan Parker and Rob Webb won with 44 points ahead of Paul Childs and Brian Lawrence (43). Jake Norman and Bill Sollis were third and Mike Humpston and Steve Griffin fourth on count-back.

Meanwhile, 92 Vale seniors played a three-ball stableford qualifier.
