BOURTON Roadrunners juniors boasted a fine turn-out at the Gloucestershire Cross-country League season opener at Cotswold Farm Park.

They ran well on a demanding course with lots of ups and downs and twists and turns.

All the age categories were much higher in standard and numbers this year but Bourton’s under-11 girls took the race by storm.

Isobel Barnett was first in for the club after a battle with team-mate Lauren Farley as they finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Helena West was seventh and Cadence Muschamp 12th before the other Bourton girls streamed in close to each other.

Ella Davies was 16th, Annabella Tallis 30th, Abbi James 39th, Isobel Nevins 40th, Abigail Barnett 44th, Alice Brown 45th, Isabella Morriss 47th, Maria Watkins 49th, Isobel Dennett 53rd, Celia Darwent 54th, Ella Rose Lane-Gregory 58th, Tara Andrews 61st, Erika Creed 62nd and Maya Andrews 65th.

There was only a few minutes dividing all the girls in a fast, competitive field.

In the team league, Bourton are first, fifth, 10th, 13th, 15th and 16th.

Lucy Griffin made a fine start to the under-13s season with a strong second place.

Bethan Powell moved up to the age category with a bang to take sixth spot.

Josephine Mutsaars finished ninth before category newcomers Isabel Kiey-Thomas and Emily Field 22nd and 27th respectively.

Bourton are second team in the league.

The under-15s and 17s ran together with all the Roadrunners new to the age group.

But Niamh Powell put on a masterclass, winning by nearly 20 seconds.

Koumi Ikeda was 20th, Charlotte Foster 23rd and Gabby Jones 24th as Bourton sat sixth in the team league. For the boys, the under-11s field was competitive and Kan Ikeda led the way for Bourton in fifth.

The consistent Louis Mutsaars was 11th and the ever-improving Findlay Morriss 16th.

Lysander Tarrant finished 24th, Beau Griffin 28th, Dicken Tilley-Loughrey 35th, Finley Davies 40th, George Quli 42nd, Connor McGuiness-Dean 49th, Clay Andrews 50th, Jago Tarrant 56th, Alfie Griffin 58th, Christopher Hunt 61st, George Farley 66th, Jacob Herbert 68th, Sean Farley 72nd and Edward Jones 74th.

In the team league, the boys are third, ninth, 14th, 16th and 19th.

The under-13s were new to the category and Dylan Williams battled with team-mate Josh Angus as they finished 17th and 18th respectively.

Aden Corban was 34th and Thomas Wood 41st with the boys sitting fifth in the league.
