PERSHORE finished runners-up in the club’s first tournament in the new Midlands Mixed Friendly Touch League.

Camp Hill won the final 3-2 at Pershore as more than 70 players from across the region took part.

Teams also came from Droitwich, Greyhound (Hereford), and Wellesbourne (Stratford), and individual players from Upton joined several of the teams.

The Mixed Friendly League was set up this autumn to run alongside the successful Midlands Ladies Touch League, which now comprises 15 teams.

Mixed tournaments are being organised for the 2015 season, running from March to November.

“Touch rugby is a brilliantly inclusive game – men and women and children can all play together because it is non-contact,” said organiser Fizz Bewley.

Touch rugby training takes place at Pershore Rugby Club every Wednesday at 7.30pm or from Sunday at 10am.

Anyone aged 13 years and over, can come along and have a go. Training resumes on January 7, 2015. For details, call Fizz Bewley on 01905 381080.
