VALE runners have been enjoying success at cross-country competitions.
In the SWSSA Cross-country Cup, Pershore High School impressed as the girls’ team won with 16 points.
Despite atrocious weather conditions at Prince Henry’s High School, Evesham, the runners battled through the boggy course.
Pershore’s Elise Blake was second, Helena Leach third, Molly Salt fourth, Alice Patterson seventh and Kieran Bennett ninth.
Other positions went to Bradley Hodgetts (11th), Amara De Silva-Morgan (15th), Ellie Duncan (18th), Megan Wright (19th), Henry Rowlings (22nd), Chris Vizard (24th), Josh Skerrett (25th), Emma Brown (27th), Harry Boyle (30th) and Louis Cartwright-Walls (36th).
The boys’ team scored 66 points for third place.
Meanwhile, St Nicholas Middle School, Pinvin, enjoyed a successful winter term with two cross-country team wins.
The girls completed gruelling 1,500-metre and 2,000m courses in the mud, rain and cold with both years five and six being crowned district champions.
Year five retained their title as the Pershore cluster holders, while year six won the SWSSA competition with three of the team chosen for the district.
