TWO athletic Childswickham sisters are hoping for more success in 2015.

Saoirse and Laoishe MacCana are members of Fromeside Gymnastic Club in Bristol.

Winchcombe School pupil Saoirse, 14, collected plenty of medals in 2014.

She moved up to level three and became Gloucestershire champion in the four-piece apparatus at the standard.

Saoirse impressed with good landings and no falls, including on the newly learned vault that she competed in for the first time.

At the same level, she won the ‘A’ Star South West Championship.

The youngster also competed for a team in the South West League Level ‘B’ and they won all three competitions to be crowned champions.

Saoirse is joined at the club by Laoishe, 17, who attends Cleeve School.

The elder sister started the year well, competing successfully in the first of three competitions for a team in the South West League Level ‘C’.

But she could not take part in the next two after suffering a posterior cruciate ligament injury to her knee during training.

However, Laoishe’s team became league champions and she was presented with a gold medal.

The injury meant the teenager was unable to defend her Gloucestershire title but she hopes to be back on top form in 2015.
