EVESHAM Swimming Club have appointed Adrian Mayhew as their new head coach.

Mayhew has been associated with the town club since the 1980s and was coach from 1996 until 1999.

He has rejoined the club, bringing with him a wealth of experience gained from his many interests.

Mayhew was part of a team from Evesham who won the biathlon championships and also competed at three world triathlon championships in the 1990s.

He has competed in the World Life-Saving Championships and was part of a gold-winning quadrathlon team at the world championships in Ibiza.

In 2007 in Australia, Mayhew represented the Fire and Rescue Service at the World Police and Fire Championships in the 3.2-kilometre swim and 400m front crawl and achieved a bronze medal.

He still competes at open water surf swim races.

A statement said: “The club would like to wish Adrian well in his new post and look forward to an exciting 2015.”

To support Mayhew this year, a string of members have achieved their level one coaching qualification.

They are Simon Goodall, Hayley West, Mark Brown, Jon Ward, Andrew McKenna, Mark Foster, Molly Hardwick and Katie Wright.
