PERSHORE started the 2015 season with 13 golds among 28 medals at the Stourbridge Crystal open meet.

They secured 68 county qualifying times, three Midlands standards and 38 personal bests at the level three gala in Wolverhampton.

Chris Vizard bagged golds in the 12 years 200-metre individual medley (two minutes 43.57 seconds), 50m (33.13) and 200m butterfly (2.51.82) and 200m freestyle (2.26.15).

He added silver in the 200m backstroke (2.43.78) and bronze in the 200m breaststroke (3.11.21).

Megan Annis secured her first qualifying time of the year for June’s Midlands Championships in Coventry.

She won the 11 years 50m backstroke in 35.37 as well as triumphing in the 50m breaststroke (41.38) and 50m freestyle (31.39).

Annis also collected silver in the 50m butterfly (35.77).

Patrick Heeks swam his first Midlands time of 2015 by winning the 11 years 50m backstroke in 35.05.

He also won golds in the 200m backstroke (2.43.86) and 50m butterfly (34.87) plus silvers in the 200m individual medley (2.51.77), 200m butterfly (3.05.13) and 200m (2.34.54) and 50m freestyle (32.27).

Naomi Marsden added a Midlands time in the 12 years 50m backstroke, with gold in 33.28, to her 100m qualification. She had silvers in the 200m backstroke (2.38.46) and 50m freestyle (30.53).

Jasmine Franks won the 10 years 50m freestyle (33.02) and took silver in the 50m butterfly (38.94). Caitlin Yates secured a 10 years gold in the 50m breaststroke (45.96).

Luke Perry was second in the 12 years 50m backstroke (35.06) and 50m freestyle (30.76). Kieran Cooper took bronze in the 11 years 50m breaststroke (44.88) and Amy Cooper silver in the 13 years 200m butterfly (2.53.39).

PBs were clocked by Gabriella Barry, Cameron Leach, Lauren Annis, Tamara Marsden, Sophie Thomas, Alexandra Barry, Charlotte Downey and Isobel Cumming.

Head coach Tom Naughton said: “It’s always hard for the swimmers to produce personal bests straight after the Christmas break.

“But I was really impressed with the attitude of all our swimmers and there were some very impressive performances.”
