EVESHAM’S John Machin took over the reins from Mike Abraham as the new men’s captain at the Craycombe Links course.
Machin drove the customary three balls down the fairway to the waiting members lining the course with a prize going to the nearest person.
In the competition involving teams of four, scoring was difficult in blustery conditions.
G Howey, L Ridley, P Batchelor and B Woodward won with 88 points ahead of M Nedic, D Nightingale, G Parker and A Dauncey (86).
Meanwhile, hosts Broadway thrashed Cleeve Cloud 5-0 in the Ladies Mail on Sunday National Golf Club Classic second round.
In singles match-play, Linda Carruthers, Veronica Rudd, Debbie Donoghue, Rachel Rigg and Sue Barker beat tough opposition.
The men’s winter league final leg was a better-ball contest in gusty winds.
Mark Boyes and Thomas Collins won round eight with 45 points, leaving Kenny Campbell and Guy Madgwick second with 44.
The league champions were Brian Wright and David Drinkwater with 320 followed by Mick Sandalls and Nigel Webley (319) and Gary Barnett and Richard Craig (317).
Paul Emsley and Kevin Spencer (316) were fourth and Alan Taggart and James Powell (313) fifth.
