THE annual North Cotswold Schools’ cross-country trials were held at the Fire Service College in Moreton-in-Marsh.
Record numbers took part with more than 200 runners from 14 schools battling it out in wintery conditions.
The town’s Kitebrook House School team travelled the short distance.
Alice Newton just missed out on first place by seconds but the runners-up spot means she will represent the North Cotswold region in March’s Gloucestershire finals.
The other team members were Imogen Shackleton (19th), Bob Rawlinson (41st), Alice Hannah (43rd), Scrase Duffy (46th), Henry Austin (63rd), Ferdy Penfold (78th) and Max Craig (122nd).
Dormer House School’s team of eight boys and nine girls from Moreton enjoyed top 12 places to also reach the county competition at St Edward’s School, Cheltenham, on Saturday, March 21.
Finn Watkins finished sixth in the boys’ event and, for the girls, Cadence Muschamp was fourth, Jo-Jo Hynes seventh and Elsa Thwaites eighth.
