PERSHORE sent a nine-strong team to the City of Birmingham open meet.

Competing against top Midlands clubs including Birmingham, Coventry and Boldmere, Pershore swimmers won one gold, two silver and three bronze medals.

Lauren Annis, 10, bagged gold in the 100m breaststroke (one minute 49.16 seconds personal best) and silver in the 100m backstroke (1.32.31 PB).

She also produced good swims in the 200m freestyle (3.00.73), 50m butterfly (43.28) and 100m individual medley (1.35.32).

Patrick Heeks, 11, claimed a 100m butterfly silver (1.16.36) and 200m backstroke bronze (2.36.67) with a Midland qualifying time (MQT).

Heeks also swam PBs in the 400m freestyle (5.08.62), 100m individual medley (1.20.24), 100m breaststroke (1.38.83), 100m backstroke (1.15.89), 100m freestyle (1.08.04) and 200m individual medley (2.45.39).

Hannah Simister won bronzes in the 200m freestyle and 100m breaststroke in 2.29.42 (PB) and 1.28.14 respectively as well as clocking 39.10 in the 50m butterfly.

Pershore debutant Suzanne Capewell produced PBs in the 100m breaststroke (2.07.03), 50m backstroke (50.22), 200m breaststroke (4.29.39) and 100m freestyle (1.40.30).

Alex Barry, 11, shone in the 400m individual medley (5.51.45) and 800m freestyle (10.34.25 PB).
