EVESHAM will be hosting a big night of boxing later this month.
Worcester City’s Grant Attwood is making his third defence of the Central England Youth Welterweight title at De Montfort Sports Hall on Friday, May 22.
The powerful fighter, who trains at the Worcester Boxing Gym, will face talented southpaw Bradley Goldsmith from Triumph in Coventry.
An encounter a few months ago was a thriller and, with home support this time, Attwood has a good chance to retain his belt.
Several other Central England Belt matches are also on the bill, including Worcester’s lightweight Amin Khan who is vying for the vacant Central England Novice Lightweight title.
Tickets, costing £15, can be bought on the door with ringside tables purchased in advance for £250, including business advertising. For more details, call 07854702531.
Evesham Rugby Club’s under sevens ended their season on a high with victory at the Stratford Mini Festival.
David Morrish, Ryan Croft, Jan Bossy, Benji Xanthopolous, Nick Welland and Evan Evis all played superbly for Evesham, who won every game in the tournament, culminating in a nail-biting final against Claverdon.
Strong defending put pressure on their opponents and superb support play were key to Evesham’s success.
