MOTORCYCLE ace Joe Newbould scooped two accolades at the Cookstown 100 in Northern Ireland.

Newbould, from Moreton-in- Marsh, won the final race of the meeting after earlier being crowned fastest newcomer.

He finished 15th in the star-studded Supersport 600 A race in which he won the Adrian McFarland Trophy for the newcomer with the quickest time.

Newbould celebrated success in the fourth and final race, the KDM Cookstown 100 B, which he won by 3.3 seconds and received the Trevor Ferguson Memorial Cup.

He had started the day with a ninth place in the Non-Championship Open Race B and was fifth in the Senior Support A race after the second-fastest lap time.

Newbould said: “My first trip to Northern Ireland was a great experience and I was pleased to improve my lap times from the beginning of practise. To come away with two trophies was a great bonus.”
