VINA Kite achieved a hole-in-one in Evesham Golf Club’s first mixed Am-Am competition of the season.

She aced the ninth hole and it was her sixth achieved on various courses.

Kite celebrated her feat by treating Evesham’s members to wine or whisky.

The competition was played in excellent conditions and everyone enjoyed the sunshine and the good company.

Ian Hughes, Ruth Masters, Geoff Wellens and Anne Cowley carried off first place with a score of 87 points.

Wellens fired a birdie on the last hole to pip to the post Mark Harrison, Mel Evans, Richard Curnock and Leslie Curnock, who came second with 86 points.

Marlene Billings hit top form to win the ladies’ Daphne Shields Trophy.

Billings carded 35 points to triumph in the Stableford competition.

Sheelagh Crane, with 33 points, finished second, and Conryn Abbott, with 32 points, took third spot.

James Attwood carded a nett 72 to take first place in Evesham’s Roger Knight Trophy.

Attwood won from Gavin Griffiths, who was one shot back on 73, with Steve Protherough third on count-back. Ben Woodward, with 76, achieved the best gross score.

Three-ball alliance: 1 Pat Martin and Terri Hawes 77 points.
