EVESHAM’S Mike Tustin moved up to fourth in the Thundersport GB A&R Racing Pre-National Sport 600 class.

The optimistic TeamMTR rider hoped to build on successful results at Donington Park in rounds five and six at Snetterton.

The weekend got off to a slow start in a wet qualifying session as the bike had a faulty rear tyre.

Tustin started both the first day’s races in 18th position and made up ground on the first lap but had to retire quickly after being caught up in another rider’s accident.

The weather cleared in Norfolk and the Vale competitor aimed for the top 10 from 18th on the grid.

After a good start, he plugged away and finished fourth, while breaking the lap record in the process.

Tustin started in second place for both the second day’s races as a result – the first time the team had been on the front row for more than 12 months.

After an average start, he secured third spot despite overshooting a corner on the way.

Tustin was caught up in another accident in the final contest but remained upright and finished third again, despite overheating problems, for his fourth podium place of the year.

After an expensive repair to his Triumph, aided by sponsors, his next meeting is at Cadwell Park on May 29, 30 and 31.
