The Rose Bowl was a stroke-play nett contest and Machin topped the field of 20 ladies with 77 points on count-back from runner-up Anne Cowley.

Evesham seniors also played in difficult conditions for the Costa Craycombe Cup, with winner Martin Williams dropping his handicap by two shots.

He scored 68 nett to see off the second-placed Ian Facer and Mike Brumage.

Ken Hardacre and Williams were convincing winners of the seniors’ Wychavon Cup.

Meanwhile, Gavin Griffiths and Evesham PGA professional Daniel Clee are one step away from a Lombard Trophy final appearance at Gleneagles.

Griffiths teed up a chance to tread the fairways of the PGA Centenary Course on September 1 and 2, when he won his club qualifier with 73 nett.

The duo advance to the regional final at Coventry on Wednesday, July 22.

Griffiths is a 35-year-old glazier from Evesham, who plays off a handicap of nine, while Clee, 40, has been a professional at the Fladbury club for 10 years.
