EVESHAM’S Mike Tustin endured a miserable Thundersport GB A&R Racing Pre-National Sport 600 class meeting at Cadwell Park after crashing out in race three.

The Team MTR rider only finished one of the scheduled four contests in Lincolnshire but just dropped one place in the championship to fifth.

His Triumph bike was rebuilt after overheating problems in the previous round at Snetterton and the Vale competitor qualified seventh in the wet.

Tustin was fourth in the first race but tried an audacious move on a corner only to end up on the grass.

His retirement was followed by fourth place in the second race in dry conditions as he was only 0.5 seconds off third spot.

The next morning brought an end to Tustin’s meet when he crashed out in a rainy race three after qualifying fourth.

He recovered to fourth by lap five after falling to 10th due to a poor start, only to crash and hit the tarmac at around 70mph.

Tustin should be fine for the next round at Oulton Park, Cheshire, on Saturday, June 27, but the bike needs a rebuild.
