THE Tattersall Cups went to Evesham’s John and Dee Machin after they finished second in the club’s mixed open.

A four-ball better-ball contest with three-quarters handicap involved a healthy entry with pairs teeing off in fine weather on a course in top condition.

First-prize winners were Martin and Pat Langston from Redditch with 39 points on count-back on the last six holes with the Machins claiming the runners-up berth.

On Lady Captain’s Day at Evesham, Joan Hunt welcomed members to a competition as they were drawn into teams of three with the best two scores counting.

Each group started on a different hole and the winners were Leslie Curnock, Dee Machin and Angela Budden with 84 points ahead of Jenny Marston, Jenny Masser and Josie Witts on 77.

Meanwhile, handicap league captain Gavin Griffiths took all the honours in winning Evesham men’s Baker Cup at a wet Fladbury course.

In a competition that doubled up as the June medal, in-form Griffiths bagged the trophy with 70 nett off his nine handicap.

Runner-up was Hywel Jones (83 gross 12 handicap 71 nett) one shot back, while Paul Sharp (83-11=72) was third with all the players competing in Division One.

Dave Tarry (88-16=72) won Division Two with Ian Tyrrell (86-13=73) second and Pete Stanley (86-13=73) third.
