HONEYBOURNE’S Team Jones Dorling Racing had a disappointing end to the National Superstock 1000 Championship sixth round at Knockhill, Scotland.
The engine was stripped and rebuilt after a sixth place at Snetterton with rider Ashley Beech finding the power delivery smoother in practice and sitting fourth after qualifying.
Torrential overnight rain caused severe damage to the track surface, cancelling the second qualifying session, and the JD Racing competitor started from the second row of the grid before remaining in the leading pack of four.
When the first rider crashed, a podium finish was within Beech’s grasp but at halfway his brakes started to fade and he had to retire to the pits.
The next round is at Brands Hatch on July 17, 18 and 19.
