HONEYBOURNE’S Team Jones Dorling Racing clinched a points finish with 12th at the National Superstock 1000 Championship round eight at Thruxton.

Rider Ashley Beech needed better luck after technical gremlins in the previous few meetings.

Each team were allowed three sets of new tyres during a race weekend so choosing when to use them proved to be big decisions on the abrasive surface at the fast Wiltshire circuit.

In practice, Beech felt the geometry on his Kawasaki ZX-10R was wrong so amendments to the rear to lower the bike and shift his body weight further back increased traction.

The bike felt better in qualifying, although he lost time through the twisty sections and gained the advantage back on the straights.

Small changes were made and his lap times improved as he finished final qualifying in 11th, which was improved to 10th after a disqualification.

From row three, Beech started well but dropped to 15th in the first lap after struggling on the bendy sections.

However, he fought his way up to 12th and crossed the line in the same position to deliver a points finish.
