EVESHAM Martial Arts head instructor Ben England is on top of the world after his latest achievement.

The fourth degree black belt, who owns and runs the academy above Amber Café in Evesham, returned from the World Kickboxing Union Championships in Albir, Spain, with two gold medals.

The achievement was made all the more special due to this being his ninth attempt at winning a world championship gold medal.

After winning his individual lightweight kickboxing division, England was then selected by the nation’s head coach to represent his country in the five-man team event, where they beat Germany in the final.

He said: “When my arm was raised in the final, it was an unbelievable feeling.

“After 20 years of martial arts and nine attempts at winning a world championship, it was an amazing feeling to have all the years of hard work and sacrifice pay off.

“My new aim is to inspire the next generation of martial arts athletes to step up and win gold medals on the international stage.

“We’ve already produced medal winners at world championships and I can’t wait to train more.”

The academy have classes for all ages and abilities, starting at four years old, and includes taekwondo, kickboxing and ladies-only classes.
