THE Worcestershire under 13s and 11s school team competitions took place at St Egwin’s Middle in Evesham.

Blackminster Middle, also of Evesham, gained a comprehensive double over St Egwin’s in the under 13s girls and boys’ events.

Their experienced girls’ team of Lucy Rose, Jamie Williams, Anna Cole and Jenna Gough beat Madison Barnes, Lilly Pullen, Eden Rees and Amy Brotherton, 8-0.

Blackminster’s boys, comprising Luke Fisher, Luke Baron, Jack Witheford and Sean Lunnon, ran out 6-2 winners over St Egwin’s players Benjamin Robinson, Eden McPherson, Geordy Wright and Luke Plane.

Despite being on the losing side, Robinson was player of the match.

Littleton First’s under 11 girls of Lillia McKewan, Charlotte Trivett, Millie Collett and Naomi Woods proved too strong for their opponents.

Blackminster Middle, with Felicity Key, Rhiannon Clarke and Ellie Lemmon, were one player short and Littleton won 6-2.

The under 11 boys’ competition was a big struggle for winners St Egwin’s Middle.

Sam Lyons, Owen Bates, Daniel Reynolds and Rowan Snell went ahead in the competition by defeating Westacre Middle from Droitwich, who were made up of Owen Dyson, Archie Coates, Noah Bishop and Nick Baldwin.

They then went on to draw 4-4 with Littleton First’s Harvey Gough, Carson Jones, Harry Hawkins-Pitt and George Maskell.

Blackminster Middle were only able to field a two-man team on the day comprising John Blakely and Bailey Matthews so the other three teams all benefitted.

The competition depended on the result of the Littleton and Westacre match, which was a tense 4-4 draw.

St Egwin’s were crowned champions due to overcoming Westacre with captain Sam Lyons collecting the winners’ shield.

The runners-up were decided by a count-back of each game and Westacre secured the medals, having just beaten Littleton by 16 games to 15.

The winners go to the zone finals in January to face winners from Birmingham, the Black Country, Buckinghamshire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Oxfordshire and Warwickshire.
