BOWBROOK House School year 10 pupil Guy Anderson was invited to be part of the English Talent Programme for Pentathlon GB.

The event includes swimming, combined run and shoot, fencing and show jumping.

They also run a triathlon that includes a 200-metre swim and 2,400m combined run and shoot.

The 14-year-old budding Olympian took part in the under-17s national championships for the triathlon at Solihull among 21 participants.

Although the Peopleton school’s pupil’s 200m swim was a personal best, it was slower than he expected.

This left him in 19th position but he performed exceptionally well in the run and shoot to finish ninth in the discipline and 15th overall.

His next event is at the Royal Windsor Horse Show this weekend.

The Studley-based teenager has been selected to represent Central England in the Pony Club national tetrathlon competition involving running, swimming, shooting and riding.
