EVESHAM Golf Club held their mixed open greensome stableford in summer conditions.

Twenty-two pairs, including 10 from visiting clubs, helped raise £120 for the lady captain’s charity Sight Concern Worcestershire.

Home players Richard and Lesley Curnock won with 41 points and claimed the Tattersall Cups for the best Evesham pair.

Mike Izod and Val Lemon were second with 39 and David Baxter from Devon’s Saunton club and Amanda Ransom just missed out with 38.

Nearest the pin were Marlene Billings from Evesham and Simon Williams from Tewkesbury.

Lady captain Conryn Abbott organised a day for the section.

Teams of three enjoyed the format and the winning team was Lesley Curnock, Jenny Masser and Pam Pike.

Jean Bevan, Allen and Gillian Smith were second in front of Penny Osborne, Julie Winter and Elaine Boscott.

A putting competition wearing an eye patch over the left eye was won by Boscott.

A warm morning greeted 60 golfers in Evesham’s June Medal and main board competition for the prestigious Baker Cup.

The worthy winner of Division One and the cup was the in-form Darren Nightingale with a best of the day gross 75 and nett 66.

Second was Steve Wood with 70 gross ahead of Nick Webb (71) and Richard Curnock (72).

A popular Division Two victor was Pete Stanley with 68 followed by Mark Harrison (70).

Frazer Williamson (72) pipped Stuart Berry to third place on count-back.
