ALEX Gregory and his crew mates were left frustrated after high winds forced today’s rowing regatta at the Rio Olympics to be called off.
The former Evesham Rowing Club oarsman was set to be compete in the semi-finals of the men’s coxless four this afternoon.
However, after initially delaying the morning session, organisers made the decision to postpone all racing at Lagoa in Rio.
It follows the postponement of Sunday’s schedule due to adverse weather conditions.
Gregory’s crew, who won their heat in five minutes 55.59 seconds yesterday, are now expected to battle for a place in the final tomorrow from 1.30pm.
The final is scheduled to take place on Friday when 32-year-old Gregory, who is a former Prince Henry’s High School pupil, will attempt to clinch his second Olympic gold following his success in London four years ago.
