EVESHAM ladies' captain Eunice Allen drove three superb drives down the first fairway landing near the feet of Lesley Curnock, Beryl Osborne and Jill Cleary on a bright, sunny spring morning.

After a photo shoot in front of the clubhouse, 25 ladies continued to enjoy the weather playing a bogey stroke-play competition.

The winner was Ruth Masters with 4+ ahead of Allen with 1+ and Jenny Masser with a level score.

On another fine spring day 27 ladies graced the fairways of Evesham to play a waltz competition.

The pressure is on every third hole for the best scores to come in and there were some high scores.

The winning team with 84 points were Gill Smith, Audrey Tomkins and Sally Deakin.

Runners-up with 76 on countback were Masters, Mel Evans and Allen.

The men's section of Evesham saw the culmination of the winter league on a blustery morning with a fine triumph in the final by Andrew Dauncey and Tony Philpott on the 18th hole over Mike Abraham and John Richards.

Played over the winter months as a pairs better-ball match-play format the three leagues were whittled down to the final eight who contested the knockout stages.

The final two pairs were joined in the winners' enclosure by the rather dubious honour of wooden spoon victors Steve Protherough and Simon Badger.
