SCARLETT Preen grabbed a silver medal for Evesham All Starz as they competed for the first time in the West Midlands Advanced Novice Competition in Staffordshire.

The competition attracts some of the best young gymnasts in the region with big established clubs sending their up-and-coming talent.

Ruby Gould, Preen, Poppy James and Lottie Andrews competed for Evesham, tackling four individual events including the beam, uneven bars, vault and floor.

All four gymnasts gave great performances on all four pieces of equipment with Preen winning a silver in the overall competition and Andrews a credible sixth-placed ribbon in overall category.

The Evesham club are celebrating their sixth birthday this year and have only been running their competition groups for just over two years.

All Starz have grown so much in the last 12 months they have moved to bigger facilities to accommodate their gymnasts and gone from training one day a week to six.

Their competition squad were also successful in 2016, winning seven out of the nine categories they entered.
