PAT and Neil Martin have won The Vale Golf Club’s Beauchamp Cup.
It was the club’s first mixed trophy competition of the year and the excellent conditions allowed many pairs to post good scores in the fourball betterball format.
The winning pair totalled an impressive 47 points and were followed by second-placed Jacky and Tony Waghorn with 46 points.
The ladies also played the Coronation Foursomes competition for a chance to represent the club at a regional event.
In bitterly cold conditions, Penny Sharp and Jean Hilton came first with 33 points, followed by Margaret McCaig and Sandy Warburton with 31. Lyndsey Parsons and Pat Martin were third on 29 points.
A large turnout of 51 ladies were rewarded with sunny conditions for a three-ball alliance stableford game. Lyn Robinson scored a hole-in-one on the third to help her team of Val Perfect and Sandy Warburton to first place with 72 points.
