It has been a promising start to the outdoor season for Overbury held two excellent events - the opening of the green day and an open day - to attract new members.

The opening of the green day officially started the new year and was attended by 54 members.

During the winter, the six-rink county standard green was given time to recover from the 2016 match-play and tended by working parties to make sure it was a good bowling surface for the season.

To attract people new to the sport, Overbury held an open day where prospective members were introduced to the aspects of bowling and tried their hand on the green.

A total of 18 new people enjoyed the club’s hospitality provided by the ladies’ section. Further coaching is planned to help those new to bowls to progress quickly.

During the season, every Monday evening is club night when members can practice, receive coaching, play friendly matches or just socialise.

Wednesday mornings are for club members to play friendly matches and to get to know other members.

New members, both young and old, are always welcome to join in.

The club have equipment and qualified coaches to get inexperienced players up-and-running quickly.
