IAN Mann and Barb Buggin have carried off Broadway Golf Club’s prestigious Rummer Cup.

The Rummer Cup was first presented by a visiting Dutch couple in 1969 and is played as a mixed competition.

Mann and Buggin were crowned winners after carding a magnificent 71.5 nett.

Mann and Buggin received their honour from ladies’ captain Brenda Corfield and club captain Jim Hutchison, who finished fourth with 76.5.

Les and Annabelle Carter took second spot with 73.5 while Les also achieved a hole-in-one on the par-three eighth hole.

Peter Azizi and Emma Whiston joined forces to take third position with 76.

Meanwhile, June Vidler and Ange Sollis were in top form as they won the ladies’ Peugeot LGU Coronation Foursomes match at Broadway.

They came home with an impressive 33 points and will now go forward to qualify for one of the 16 area finals.

Henrietta Cooke and Irene Hawkes finished second with 31 points and ahead of Nadine Simpkin and Valerie Steven who took a deserved third spot on a countback.

Forty of Broadway’s ladies competed in the match. With the overhang of the previous day’s storms and a tricky wind to contend with, conditions were tough.

However, the ladies revelled in the opportunity to compete in one of the leading events for club golfers in Great Britain and Ireland.
