A HOST of former professional footballers will be running out at Evesham United’s ground in a charity match on Sunday (3.30pm).
Show Racism the Red Card Legends will line up against Growers United FC at the Jubilee Stadium.
The aim of the day is to raise funds for Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) and promote awareness of the campaign.
SRtRC's team could include Gary Bennett (Sunderland), Alan Kennedy (Liverpool), Trevor Sinclair (England, Manchester City and West Ham United), Darren Moore (Derby County and West Bromwich Albion), Luke Jerdy (Hollyoaks), Ken Monkou (Chelsea and Southampton), Terry Angus (Fulham), Marcus Gayle (Wimbledon and Watford), Cameron Moore (Hollyoaks), Paul Walsh (England, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City) Mark Walters (England, Liverpool and Aston Villa), Jason Lee (Watford and Nottingham Forrest), Anwar Uddin (Hereford United, Sheffield Wednesday, West Ham United).
Growers United encourage integration between communities and cultures through sport, and offer opportunities for businesses to create greater community spirit and cohesion.
The gates will be opening at 2pm.
Ged Grebby, chief executive of Show Racism the Red Card, said: “The campaign is very grateful that Growers United FC selected Show Racism the Red Card as their charity of choice to help promote and raise funds for.
“At this moment in time, anti-racism education is as important as ever and all the money raised at the match will help us to continue to educate young people in schools.”
