ROUND five of the British Superstock 1000 Championship saw Evesham's Jones Dorling Racing travel to Snetterton circuit in Norfolk.

Rider Joshua Boyd, fully recovered from his incident in June, returned joined by team-mate Ashley Beech.

But both riders had issues in the free practice sessions so a lot of hard work had to be put in by the crew.

Beech suffered recurring brake problems that have plagued the team despite several changes of systems.

He kept on pole lap pace during qualifying but could not maintain the consistency as the brakes heated up. His determination meant he qualified in 11th position.

Boyd's bike was losing power. The team worked hard before the 16-lap race to resolve the issue which was a break in four wires out of thousands within the harness.

Replacing the harness resulted in the bike going back up to 200 horsepower.

Beech started the 50-mile, 16-lap race 11th on the grid and even though up within 100th of a second behind the leading pack he had to retire on lap six as again the brakes seized as they heated up.

Beech said: "It was frustrating because I am capable of running in the top three as proven at Donington Park but we need to solve the brakes before the next round at Brands Hatch."

But he is still 10th in the championship.

Boyd started from 34th and battled his way through the field for 24th position.

He said: “My final position doesn't reflect the progress we’ve made this year with minimal set-up time and despite the last-minute changes I beat last year's personal best by three seconds and am bridging the gap to battle into the top 20.”

The next round is at Brands Hatch in two weeks.
