TWO Pershore swimmers will compete at the ASA Home Nations Summer Championships.

Hannah Woodcock and Simon Sweatman head to the competition at Ponds Forge, Sheffield, next week with club-mates Patrick Heeks, 13, and Alex Barry, 13, just missing out.

Woodcock, also 13, has been swimming better and quicker all season particularly since moving up to the seniors' group in early 2017.

The King's School Worcester all-rounder has traditionally favoured the breaststroke and came close to qualifying in that and in the butterfly.

But Woodcock secured her place in the 50-metre freestyle (28.75 seconds) and 100m freestyle (one minute 1.89 seconds).

Fifteen-year-old Sweatman, now boarding at Millfield School in Somerset, has qualified for the third year in a row.

He has made changes to his technique and was always strong in the backstroke.

Sweatman has qualified for the nationals in the 50m butterfly (27.70), 100m butterfly (1.02.32) and 200m backstroke (2.19.42).

Pershore head coach Tom Naughton will head north to support the swimmers.
