JAMIE Andrew secured the title as 80 competitors tackled Broadway men’s 36-hole club championships.

On a day when the course was at its peak and the weather set fair it was tight after the first 18 holes.

Andrew continued his superb form from the first round and scored 145 gross to earn the championship salver.

Close behind was the 2016 winner Richard Tate with 146 and nett leader was James Mooney with 138 to claim the Peter Ward Putter.

The ladies compete in their 36-hole club championships and the day turned out fine after a wet forecast.

As the morning session came to an end the competition was exceptionally close with few points separating the leaders.

But there was never any doubting the victor as Vicky Watkins soared into an unreachable lead with 163 gross to earn the prestigious trophy for the second year running.

Lin Everitt scored 181 to take the runner-up salver prize.

Irene Hawkes, on her championship debut, had the best nett of 151 to win the crystal vase donated by Julia Ward.

Other Broadway ladies were out to support the championship day stableford over 18 holes.

Frances Friend won in Division One with 36 points ahead of Sonia Ward in second with 31.

Bev Howard sealed top position in Division Two with 40 leaving Jude Vidler second with 39.
