EVESHAM’S Jones Dorling Racing had improved results at Thruxton circuit in round seven of the National Superstock 1000 Championship.

The team worked hard since the last round at Brands Hatch to solve persistent brake problems and were optimistic they had finally got on top of the issue.

Rider Ashley Beech went out for his first free practice and fter several laps it was clear he was feeling good on the BMW 1000.

He finished 15th ready to push for the next practice session where he managed eighth in wet conditions.

Qualifying for the 50-mile race in Hampshire was hampered by power issues but Beech qualified 16th.

Beech got a good start but struggled with little grip.

The fast circuit was harsh on the tyres and most of the field had handling problems.

Finishing 23rd meant the team had lots of hard work overnight to find a better set-up to suit the track and tyres.

A much better warm-up but with an unfortunate starting position of 27th after the grip difficulties meant Beech started way down the grid.

The race was reduced to 14 laps and then a serious red flag incident stopped proceedings for two hours.

It was reduced further to an eight-lap sprint and Beech surged through with improving lap times and moving up 11 places to get 16th position.

Round eight is at Cadwell Park this weekend.
