JOHN Stanley was the toast of Evesham Golf Club's men's section after bagging a first board trophy and reducing his handicap by two in the process.
Stanley shot nett 65 off his handicap of 18 to beat senior club champion Mike Abraham to the Bill Onion Trophy, the final individual board event of the year, by three shots on Saturday.
Nick Webb took third from Stuart Berry on count back after both had shot 69 with Tony Stanley (70) in fifth and Phil Batchelor (71) sixth.
Meanwhile, visiting pair Terry and Ian Martin took top honours in Sunday's father-and-son event.
Terry (Rose Hill) and Ian (King's Norton) edged out Alan and Kevin Corfield (both Rose Hill) on count back after both pairs had mustered an impressive 39.
Richard and Ashley Curnock were the highest-placed Evesham competitors, beating John and David Machin to fourth on count back with a score of 37.
The day attracted 23 pairs from 19 golf clubs from across the country.
